Building landscape lighting systems in Autumn and Winter

Building landscape lighting systems in Autumn and Winter

By Mike Gambino

The oppressive southern California heat has finally lifted and that landscape lighting system that you thought about this summer is probably far from your mind, but did you know Fall is actually the perfect time to start that project?

Here are 7 advantages of building a landscape lighting system in the fall and Winter:

1. It’s darker for much longer. Last weekend the clocks were turned back for daylight savings. People are still cooking outdoors only now you are going to need some light to see what’s on the grill and on your plate. Our long lived energy savings LED lights lend themselves to longer hours of operation without the high energy bills.

2. You have the designer and builder’s undivided attention. Fall is typically a slower time of year for building new systems. With the holidays coming, fewer people think about building landscape lighting systems. For the customer, this can result in scheduling flexibility, an even more attentive designer and a less hectic building experience.

3. You’re not so rushed: Who wants to be rushed when it comes to spending money on a home improvement? By contracting now, you can make a relaxed and informed decision, and not base your decision on silly stipulations like which company can start the soonest and end up with the wrong builder as a result.

4. Special discounts may be available. Depending upon work loads some professional landscape lighting design/builders may offer discounts in the fall and winter months, therefore you may save hundreds by building before the spring and summer.

5. Your yard will have a chance to heal: Landscape lighting construction is moderately upsetting to the garden, make no bones about it. Installing now when the temperature is cooler there is less stress on the plants and the garden will heal faster during this time . For those that get their lighting installed earlier, their yard will look much, much nicer come June 1 compared to the person that waited to make a decision.

6. It allows you to make the most of your  summer. By building in the fall or winter, you won’t miss a single day next summer. Your landscape lighting will be ready to go when the weather starts to warm up.

7. When its cooler work crews are more productive: Which means your project will complete faster so you’ll have less interuption of your lifestyle and will be able to enjoy your lighting sooner.

The gratification during warmer months may be delayed, but this fall could be the best time to start your back yard transformation.
