Tis the Season……For Outstanding service

By Michael Gambino

Actually the end of  year holiday season is not the only time a service business must excel and step up it’s responsiveness and service. It is what we focus on and pride ourselves in doing all year long.  Special attention is always afforded whenever and wherever possible for our clients. But it usually is the time of year that most of the calls come for last minute maintenance and or repairs just before the big holiday party or family get together.

This year has been exceptional as these requests have had us literally working 7 days and deep into the after dark hours most every week since before Thanksgiving. I personally worked the morning of Thanksgiving day for an emergency repair created when someone else working on the property disconnected wiring to a section of my transformers that powered a section of my landscape lighting system.

Today, Sunday AM, I found myself and my main tech on a job in the pouring rain restoring power to sections of Christmas lights that stopped working when this big storm came yesterday. When I say big storm as it relates to rain in southern California, some in other parts of the country who are reading this may laugh. Especially since just last week the mid west and east where hit with a pretty major snow storm. Just last weekend we had 87 degree temperatures so perhaps the rain I speak of will garner very little sympathy.

When it rains hard here it creates all sorts of problems because it is very seldom that we have rain events like this. Oils from the road come up and create very dangerous conditions especially when drivers do not adjust habits. As a result there are many car accidents which snarl freeways that are already congested with traffic. Soils don’t drain well in most areas so there is flooding and trees get uprooted and topple from the wind and additional weight added from rain water on their leaves.

That reminds me of another emergency service call we will be making later this week. A client e-mailed this morning that they woke up find a large Pine tree laying across their driveway. A tree we have lights mounted in. Once the tree crew gets that cleaned up and the rain stops we can get out there and re-install the lights in a tree near by and do a service on the rest of the system so it looks great for the holidays.

Frankly I can’t remember a December that has been busier. Several large projects have been signed for the new year this month and maintenance service business is at an all time high. Clients are realizing the value of maintaining their systems on a scheduled regular interval.

Getting an e-mail like this after coming out to do a late notice maintenance service for a good client having an important party for business associates makes this profession very rewarding.

“Michael–Thank you very much for so promptly coming out to my house to address those issues last week.  Really appreciate your responsiveness.

Best wishes for a fabulous Holiday Season! ”

It is comforting to know that our clients appreciate us and we certainly appreciate them.

Things are certainly looking up for the new year!

Echoing the sentiments of one of our valued clients

Best wishes for a fabulous Holiday Season!
