Amazing LED landscape lighting results in Los Angeles !!!!!!

by Mike Gambino

Less than a year ago I never thought it would be possible to be saying this but I continue to be amazed and very pleased with the performance, color and output of my new warm white 3 watt LED substitution/replacement for a 20 watt halogen light bulb.

In the foreground the Gambino Torino copper spread light, installed at 20 inches from rim of hat to ground level, grazes the top of the boulder to bring out the course texture while leaving the face of the boulder in shadow. The surrounding lawn and low plant materials are nicely washed with a 30 degree 3 watt Gambino MR-16 LED reflecting omni directionally off the inner hat of the fixture to produce these pleasing effects.

The multiple trunk phoenix Roebellini palm has one single Gambino Palermo brass wellight with a 45 degree 3 watt Gambino MR-16 LED.

The walls which are covered with tracery vines are illuminated by 2 Gambino Toscano brass uplights on either side of and behind the Giant bird of paradise with 60 degree 3 watt LED MR-16’s create a visually pleasing silhouette effect and provide depth to the vingnete.

Total electrical consumption is only a mind blowing 12 watts. Compare this with halogen and you would need 80 watts of electrical power to replicate the same scene.

This eye catching Brazilian Pepper tree is a scene stealing focal point as it appears to glow from within. It is downlighted from within the canopy with 2 Gambino copper Napoli fixtures equipped with 3 watt 60 degree MR-16 LED lamps which are attached to the highest branches for optimum effect.

Notice the interesting dappling of light and shadow on the boulders, plants and lawn below. Seasonal flowers will be planted under this tree. The colors will really pop and look amazing after dark.

Accompanying the 2 downlights are 3 Gambino Toscano brass uplights with 60 degree MR-16 LED lamps which are positioned to the left, right and center of the tree adjusted approximately to a 45-60 degree angle which do a nice job of cross lighting this specimen.

The texture of the trunk is high lighted and evident towards the lower parts of the tree.

5 fixtures in total for a total of 15 watts of electrical power consumption.

Compare with 100 watts of electricity to replicate the scene with halogen lamps.

Below is a close up photograph of this same tree.
